520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Eurigena, sometimes called John Scotus, an Irishman of the ninth century, was the most considerable philosopher in the Western world between Augustine and Aquinas and (with the possible exception of Berkeley) the greatest Irish philosopher ever. He was an idealist, a poet and a mystic, the brightest ornament of Ireland's much vaunted group of Saints and Scholars, but hitherto Ireland has taken little interest in him. This book is intended to introduce the reader to the man and to his philosophy.
