In 1916, Robert Monteith landed on Banna Strand, County Kerry with Roger Casement and wrote the following statement: "I landed from South Africa, a soldier of England. On the morrow, I was to land a soldier of Ireland."
At the request of the patriot, Tom Clarke, he joined the Irish Republican Brotherhood and was the Instruct of the 1st Battalion of the Irish Volunteers. Following this deportation from Dublin, he was sent to Germany to assist Roger Casement. THE MAKING OF A REBEL tells his story as well as his adventures in Ireland, Germany and the United States.
