Summary: "This book provides an account of Oisín's early years in Dublin, and of his career as a schoolmaster in Clones School, Bishop Foy School Waterford and St. Columba's College, Co. Dublin. He started wood-carving in about 1940, and by the early 1950s had established himself as a prominent scuptor in this medium. His first commissions were mostly for churches, but he also completed many smaller works for exhibition and sale. His appointment in 1964 as artist-in-residence at the Kilkenny Design Workshops enabled him to retire from teaching. In this post, he carried out a wide range of designs, of which a series of ceramic birds was especially popular."
